ICE Director Thanks Trump for ‘Unprecedented Funding’ for Deportations in Big Beautiful Bill
In a bold affirmation of former President Donald J. Trump’s leadership on immigration enforcement, Acting ICE Director Todd M. Lyons issued a public statement Thursday thanking Trump for delivering what he called “unprecedented funding and support” for deportation efforts through the recently passed “Big Beautiful Bill.”
The legislation, now heralded as one of the most sweeping victories for border security in modern history, allocates billions to enhance ICE operations, detain and deport criminal aliens, and complete critical sections of the border wall.
The Biden administration’s lax border policies created an immigration crisis that left border agents overwhelmed, enforcement neutered, and communities across the country plagued by crime from repeat offenders. Trump’s return to policy influence, paired with Republican control in Congress, has turned the tide.
The bill’s passage signals the reassertion of law, order, and national sovereignty—priorities that had been dismissed for years by progressive lawmakers and open-border advocates.
“This bill is a game-changer,” Lyons declared in his official statement on ICE.gov. “It equips our agency with the resources we’ve needed for years—resources to identify, detain, and remove dangerous illegal aliens. This legislation is restoring our ability to protect the American people.”
The Big Beautiful Bill earmarks more than $7 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, nearly doubling the agency’s detention capacity and tripling funding for transportation and deportation flights. It also grants broader authority to cooperate with state and local law enforcement, reversing Obama-era and Biden-era policies that hamstrung ICE’s ability to detain criminals.
According to the ICE statement, deportations of convicted felons have already surged by 37% since the start of the year and are expected to increase further with the bill’s full implementation. The legislation also authorizes fast-track hiring to bring on an additional 5,000 officers within the next 18 months.
Trump, speaking at a rally in Texas, said the bill represents “a monumental win for the safety and security of the American people.” He emphasized that a nation without borders is not a nation at all—a point long echoed by conservatives and ignored by the globalist left.
During the Biden administration, ICE’s authority was eroded under Department of Homeland Security memoranda that restricted removals to only the most “egregious” offenders, ignoring thousands of criminal aliens with drug, assault, and theft convictions. Sanctuary city policies further blocked federal agents from doing their jobs. Under Trump’s influence, these hindrances are being systematically dismantled.
“American families have suffered because Democrats prioritized political correctness over public safety,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who co-sponsored the bill. “This bill puts American citizens first again.”
While corporate media outlets attempt to downplay the legislation’s impact, the response from frontline agents and immigration enforcement professionals tells a different story. “Morale has skyrocketed,” said a senior ICE official who requested anonymity due to ongoing operations. “We finally feel like we have backing from the top. The floodgates of justice are opening.”
Faith leaders within the conservative Christian community have also applauded the legislation. Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills stated, “Scripture tells us government is ordained by God to restrain evil. Border security is not anti-Christian—it is a matter of justice and stewardship.”
The bill includes key provisions supported by the faith-based community, including protections for victims of trafficking and expedited asylum decisions to prevent abuse of the system. However, it sharply limits loopholes previously exploited by illegal immigrants and leftist NGOs, a move that has already triggered outrage among activist groups.
“This is a historic moment,” said Heritage Foundation fellow Mark Morgan, a former acting CBP Commissioner. “For too long, our immigration system has rewarded lawbreaking and endangered Americans. This bill restores common sense.”
Critics on the left are already attacking the legislation as “inhumane” and “draconian.” But to millions of Americans living in towns impacted by drug trafficking, gang violence, and overstretched public resources, the bill is a long-overdue course correction.
From a constitutional perspective, the law also reinforces the executive branch’s responsibility to enforce immigration law—a responsibility that had been sidelined in favor of political optics and globalist pressure.
Acting Director Lyons ended his statement with a direct acknowledgment to Trump: “Your leadership has empowered this agency to fulfill its mission. We are proud to serve under policies that put America first.”
For many conservatives, this is not just another legislative win—it’s a vindication. The Big Beautiful Bill proves what has long been argued by border sheriffs, ICE agents, and constitutionalists alike: when government is allowed to do its job, justice can prevail.
As illegal crossings decrease, deportations rise, and enforcement regains its footing, the American people are witnessing firsthand what happens when strong leadership meets a clear mandate. Trump’s immigration legacy, long ridiculed by the media, is now cemented with bipartisan results—even if reluctantly so by moderates.
The “Big Beautiful Bill” is more than a political achievement. It’s a promise kept—to protect the nation, uphold the law, and defend the American dream from those who seek to exploit it.
