FBI Investigates Comey, Brennan for Russia Lies

FBI Launches Criminal Investigation into John Brennan, James Comey Over Trump-Russia Probe

In a stunning turn of events, the FBI has officially launched a criminal investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey for their roles in the now-discredited Trump-Russia collusion narrative. The probe, confirmed by multiple Department of Justice sources, centers on alleged misconduct, abuse of power, and politically motivated actions taken during and after the 2016 presidential election.

The investigation is being spearheaded by a separate team within the FBI to avoid conflicts of interest, and insiders say it focuses on whether Brennan and Comey knowingly pushed false intelligence to derail then-candidate Donald Trump and later to cripple his presidency. This move marks a significant shift in the federal government’s handling of the Russia probe, which was once treated as settled history by establishment media and political elites.

According to a Fox News report citing DOJ sources, both Brennan and Comey could face criminal liability for their roles in advancing the Steele dossier—a collection of unverified and salacious allegations against Trump that was later debunked by multiple investigations, including the DOJ Inspector General’s 2019 report and the 2023 Durham Report.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred evidence of wrongdoing by Brennan to FBI Director Kash Patel for potential prosecution, DOJ sources told Fox News Digital.

The sources said that the referral was received and told Fox News Digital that a criminal investigation into Brennan was opened and is underway. DOJ sources declined to provide further details. It is unclear, at this point, if the investigation spans beyond his alleged false statements to Congress.

As new evidence has emerged pointing to coordination between intelligence agencies and Democrat-aligned operatives, the political weaponization of federal institutions has again taken center stage. Critics have long argued that the Trump-Russia narrative was less an honest counterintelligence investigation and more a thinly veiled attempt to influence the outcome of an election and sabotage a duly elected president.

Former President Donald Trump responded to the news on Truth Social, calling the investigation “long overdue” and slamming what he termed the “criminal conspiracy” carried out by “deep state actors who tried to undo the will of the American people.”

The FBI’s move to investigate its own former leadership is unprecedented but, in the words of one DOJ insider, “absolutely necessary” to restore trust in federal law enforcement. “Americans deserve to know whether these powerful individuals used their positions to target a political opponent,” the source said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an investigation into former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey over their roles in the investigation surrounding President Donald Trump and Russia allegedly colluding.

Department of Justice (DOJ) sources told Fox News that CIA Director John Ratcliffe had allegedly “referred evidence of wrongdoing by Brennan” to FBI Director Kash Patel, and added that “a criminal investigation into Brennan was opened and is underway.”

The report of Brennan and Comey reportedly facing criminal investigation comes as Breitbart News previously reported that Brennan “may be exposed to perjury problems after” Ratcliffe had released “an internal CIA review of what is known as the ‘Intelligence Community Assessment’” regarding claims that Russia had tried to influence the 2016 presidential election between Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle reported:

Last week, Ratcliffe declassified and publicly released an internal CIA review of what is known as the “Intelligence Community Assessment,” or simply ICA, of the claims that Russia tried to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

In a post on X, Ratcliffe explained that the “report underscores that the 2016 IC Assessment was conducted through an atypical & corrupt process under the politically charged environments of former Dir. Brennan & former FBI Dir. Comey.”

Conservatives have pointed to mounting evidence that Brennan, in particular, misrepresented intelligence findings in order to fuel the Russia narrative. A recently declassified memo shows Brennan was briefed as early as 2016 that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was working to tie Trump to Russia as a distraction from her email scandal. Instead of disclosing this to the public or pressing for accountability, Brennan reportedly accelerated the intelligence community’s support for the collusion theory.

Meanwhile, Comey’s role in green-lighting FISA warrant applications based on the Steele dossier—without full disclosure of its partisan origins—remains under scrutiny. Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith was already convicted in 2020 for falsifying evidence used in the surveillance process, and many believe Comey’s actions went well beyond carelessness.

This latest investigation reaffirms what many on the right have long contended: that the so-called “collusion” story was an elaborate smear operation, coordinated by entrenched political operatives and willingly carried by corporate media with little skepticism. The enduring question now is whether real accountability will finally arrive.

From a Christian conservative standpoint, this case reflects a deeper spiritual problem in American governance—a widespread abandonment of truth, justice, and transparency. As Proverbs 17:15 declares, “Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent—both are detestable to the Lord.” Many believers see this moment as a test for whether America’s institutions can be redeemed or whether they will continue to rot under political bias and corruption.

House Republicans, already investigating alleged weaponization of government agencies, have praised the FBI’s move and hinted at further subpoenas if the DOJ stalls. Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) noted on Tuesday, “The American people were lied to for years. It’s time for the liars to face justice.”

As of now, neither Brennan nor Comey has commented publicly on the criminal investigation, though both have previously maintained they acted lawfully. Legal experts suggest both men may soon face subpoenas, and one source indicated grand jury proceedings could begin before fall.

With a presidential election looming, the timing of this probe has national implications. Democrats are already spinning the investigation as political retaliation, while conservatives argue it’s a long-delayed step toward restoring the rule of law.

Regardless of political persuasion, the simple truth remains: the American people were promised accountability. Now, with Brennan and Comey finally under investigation, that promise may yet be fulfilled.
