Special Counsel Asks Supreme Court to Rule on Trump’s Immunity Claim

On Monday Special counsel Jack Smith asked the Supreme Court to intervene in his witch hunt against former President Donald J. Trump.

The scheduled March 4 trial date for the Washington trial is in the middle of the 2024 Republican presidential primary elections, taking place one day before Super Tuesday.

In what could decide the outcome of the 2024 US Presidential election, the highest court in the land quickly agreed to expedite consideration of a petition on whether former President Trump is immune from being prosecuted for crimes related to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

The court ordered that Trump file a response to the petition by 4 p.m. on Dec. 20.
